The Combahee Alliance includes Transgender, Gender Varient & Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP), Black Lives Matter (BLM), Southerners on New Ground (SONG), Community Justice Network for Youth (CJNY), The BlackOUT! Collective, The Highlander Research and Education Center, and The Ruckus Society.
The Combahee Alliance values the centering of Black, queer, and trans leadership and liberation. We are inspired by BLM’s guiding principle of “sharing and making accessible space for all Black folx regardless of perceived sexual identity, gender identity and expression, economic status, ability, disability, religious beliefs or disbeliefs or immigration status or location”.
We are thrilled to kick-off this direct action training project that will train hundreds of justice-loving freedom fighters to use creative tactics to engage targets, rapidly respond in critical movement moments, and build the power and capacity of organizers across the nation. We are in an exciting political moment where risky interventions are necessary, Black leadership must be invested in, and Black and Brown unity must be built. The first phase of the training will bring 60 Black folx and people of color from the organizations of the Combahee Alliance together for a 5-day training in January of 2016. The spring and summer of 2016 the alliance groups will be conducting regional trainings and actions. The fall of 2016 will bring participants together for a tactics summit where folks will learn new skills, techniques, ideas, and scheme and dream together. The project will conclude with a national day of action where the power we've built will be harnessed in the streets!
The Combahee Action Camp is a space for Direct Action Practitioners to gain skills in action theory, planning, strategy while deepening and sharpening direct action coordination and practitioner skills in pursuit of/ in the name of Black Liberation.
