The BlackOUT Collective is a radical, direct action, full-service organization that provides on the ground support, training, and deep space visioning in communities that prioritize the liberation of Black people. BlackOUT Collective views direct action as a critical movement strategy to address both internalized oppression as well as historic and contemporary white supremacist “anti-Blackness”.
Using direct action training and support as a vehicle, we help organizations craft strategies that win; in addition to training newly formed formations comprised of politicized Black people. In the past three years, we have witnessed the power of direct action to create instant accountability and its ability to quickly amass power in Black communities. We aim to increase and harness that power.
Hone Your Skills
BlackOUT offers a variety of trainings to equip grassroots leaders and organizations with a toolbox of knowledge and skills to build and shift power through action. We are honored to serve organizations and collectives taking direct action against systemic oppression. It is our mission to train and support groups fighting at the intersections of oppression-race, class, disability justice, and gender.

In our introductory level direct action trainings, we introduce a Black direct action framework, outline the basics of direct action, and play with creative strategies for harnessing the power of direct action in your work.

We support groups to think through how to utilize emergent strategy and situational awareness to develop, support, and or show up for creative strategic interventions.

BlackOUT's community training series is our series of public offerings where we partner with Black organizations around the country to provide direct action training to their staff, members, and the public. In addition to our 101 content, we utilize these trainings to provide tailored content that suits the needs of each organization.

The Training for Trainers provides seasoned direct action practitioners with skills, resources, and coaching to support their ability to train their communities in direct action and support the successful integration of direct action into campaigns and organizing strategies.

While all of our trainings are tailored and tuned to the specific audiences and organizations with which we work, we can also build one à la cart for you based on the skill set of our trainers. This can include things like:
Direct action strategy, Safety and security, action coordination, scouting, action planning, arts and creative resistance, and holding space.
